Huh? Most people care a ton about the commute though it is a different calculation in a hybrid world vs commuting 5 days a week.

I mean, you are fine living in Leesburg but working in downtown DC? Most of us find that fairly miserable.

I think Potomac is closer to McLean if you are evaluating apples-to-apples, while Arlington is closer to Bethesda.

Ummm, Tysons? You can pick out any random restaurant in Tysons and it pretty much dominates Bethesda. Ingle Korean steakhouse, Wren, Eddie V. Hell even North Italia is better than anything in Bethesda, which has been going downhill for about 15 years. Remember when Black's used to be good? I do. But barely

Well…Tysons is a different area and not SFH residential at all. We also aren’t talking about restaurants…I mean I don’t even know what restaurants you are referring because while they may be good for Tysons they aren’t drawing anyone from outside the area so they aren’t anything special in the grand scheme of things.

Look at the numbers of car thefts, car jackings, and crimes with guns. The council has gutted public safety and now gives more rights to criminals than lawabiding citizens. I don't think it'll ever change in the county, because the response to this disaster will be to triple down in even more progressive ideas.

There are now incidents of shootings and carjackings happening with alarming regularity now in Bethesda. Bethesda is turning into a crime ridden dump, albeit expensive.

I can't imagine what it's like to live in your world, and I also don't want to.

Yes, we all know you don't want to live in reality:

The ghettofication of Bethesda has been complete, courtesy of the progressive county council. It's only a matter of time until the entire county of MoCo turns into Baltimore. People with means won't put up with this crap for much longer and will flee. They'll take their tax dollars with them and the entire house of cards known as MoCo implodes while it continues to turn into a 3rd world crime infested dump.

Bethesda is, overall, safe but McLean is significantly safer.

I think other factors would be more important as far as McLean vs Bethesda. They’re pretty different.

Narrator: Crime and shootings can happen anywhere.

Moving to a specific location, unless it is a bunker in a remote area, is silly.

We've lived here for years and have no concerns about our safety, but then we come from capital cities where urban safety is always top of mind. I am disappointed that DC crime is seeping into the Bethesda enclave, however. There are multiple complexities to cracking down on crime. DC has just released a new crime bill, and hopefully things will slowly improve. I imagine McLean is safer, though? But not the same vibe, so it depends what you want. The Bethesda suburbs are safe as well.

If you're making decisions about where to live, based on the tweets of a college student who listens to police scanners? Yeah, you're overreacting.

My family and I are thinking about moving to Bethesda, but we could just as easily do McLean as far as our commute goes. News like this has me pushing for the latter. Am I over reacting or is this becoming more and more frequent?
