My parents had an excellent experience at Goodwin house. Dad went from independent living to needing a short period in skilled nursing before his death. It was amazing for my mom to be able to walk from her apartment down the hall to visit and be with him every day during that time and when he was on hospice. My mom died years later after living more years independently in the apartment while still having her bridge classes, her exercise class, her friends etc all right there after my dad’s death. For us it was great.

While they were both healthy and in independent living in an apartment it was also great, they made friends, went to exercise class, had a good life there.

The Baileys Crossroads area is unappealing. It's near some big box lower end strip type shopping centers.
But if parent stays inside anyway, who cares. See if they have van service to Metro.

The management staff is not good. It's definitely cliquey environment. Support staff is great though. Good events.

I don’t have any experience with their assisted living facility, but we used Goodwin for Hospice care for my mom and they were excellent, caring, responsive, and everyone was so kind and empathetic and great with my mom. Im assuming that culture extends throughout their organization.

My parents aren't residents, but they are part of Goodwin Living at Home, which is their age in place program.

It's been fantastic. They have an assigned case worker who organizes care as needed for them. My dad had a heart bypass pop up and needed 2 weeks of full time at home care at a level my mother could not provide. They worked with the hospital for release and set up all the care. The RNs who come are wonderful and professional. The peace of mind from knowing they have excellent care is awesome.

They are late 70s and generally in good health, so haven't tested the full limits yet, but all other experiences have been wonderful.

How was skilled nursing? What is ratio of caregivers to residents?
