I put an old set of landing lights from my plane on my Jeep for supplemental lighting. 390 watts. (Regular car headlight bulbs are 55 watts). I only use them sparingly- like when jackweeds like you cut me off. Then I light up your world. They’re so bright I can see the thoughts inside your head.

I haven't used them in years. I only use high beams in rural areas, and I don't drive there at night often. Never in urban areas.

So many people have theirs on these days I just decided I would use mine all the time too. So now I use them 100% of the time.

Mine are automatic. They actually work really well at detecting oncoming cars and turning off. But my guess is some cars may not have high beams that are as responsive. I also do think some of the newer headlights are just really bright and blinding.

I have been driving around rural MD lately and only got blinded once. Otherwise people turned them off appropriately when a car approached from the other direction.

I use mine all the time. Luckily, my car has a feature where they automatically come on and off depending on the amount of ambient light and other cars. It’s genius. All cars should have this.

I’m aware of the changes but I can tell from configuration these are high beams.

I swear, I can't leave the house without encountering at least 1 driver with their high beams on (and I'm pretty sure they are actually high beams, not just LED, or aftermarket blue lights, or even just misaligned).

I just don't understand, do new cars make it too easy to turn on high beams? I never turn on high beams unless I'm out in the country; between street lights and the cars in both opposing and traveling direction, there is no need and no opportunity to use them without blinding someone.

Did people just get used to "surface of the sun" illumination during the pandemic and run around with high beams even on our crowded DMV streets?
