I have terrible old lady feet at 51 so I'll weigh in. I buy dozens of shoes every year in the hope of finding 1-2 that I can actually wear.
I don't think the lock laces will solve the problem if the issue is bending over well to get the shoe on. My mom in her 90s wears almost exclusively Clark's backless slip on shoes because of this issue.
The cheap Skechers slip ons with memory foam is more comfortable, IME, then most of the fancy expensive sneakers. I tried Cariuma and Allbirds, for instance, and found them awfully uncomfortable. I do like Ryka and Taos sometimes, but their sneakers didn't work for me.
I also recently discovered this store, which advertises exactly what you want. I ordered some insulated short boots for walking in the winter from them, and they are actually really comfortable, so I may get some sneakers from them as well.
