Because it seems that the kids who applied to a large number of schools (which is information that is available to schools on the Common App) had worse outcomes than those who only applied to a handful of schools. By worse outcomes I mean either being rejected with stats that put them above many classmates who were admitted, or being denied seats for certain majors when a classmate with lower stats got in.

We may never know what UMD really thinks about MCPS. However, other schools could decide to love bomb MCPS if they really want our kids. Or families could demand an end to grade inflation and a return of HS exams.
