I have a rising 7th grader and they haven’t made course selection yet.

It sounds like OP is trying to gather information to help set expectations for their student, which seems a completely normal and reasonable thing for an appropriately engaged parent to do. Your response comes off as dismissive and unhelpful.

OP, I don't have a student at Longfellow (yet) so can't help answer unfortunately... but am likewise interested in the answer. E.g. if the homework is on average an hour or less per night across all classes, I'll have no problem signing my DC up for both a rec sport and travel soccer in the fall (even though that means there's a practice almost every night, it is what they do now and enjoy). If the homework load is going to be more than that, I'd probably recommend to my kid that they skip the rec sport in the fall.
