Whole region is on the decline. Jawando gunning to be Charles Allen 2.0 is a disaster as is Mink.

Getting guns off the street helps prevent things like robbery, homicide, non fatal shootings. It's a preventive measure. Isn't that what most people want?

All about “wraparound services.”

Criminals don't care about wraparound services and won't partake in them voluntarily.

First priority should be to take violent offenders and repeat offenders off the streets. And THEN you can more effectively provide all the "wraparound services" you want, to try and rehabilitate them.

That would be a lot more effective, where it comes to making things safer as well as having more of an ability to actually try and apply those wraparound rehabilitative services to those who need them.

Are used to work in a clinic for childhood mental health located in Baltimore. This was nearly 20 years ago but I can tell you there were tons of services available. We would nearly trip over each other trying to offer services to children in need. It is not that services are not there. They are just not effective.

I have a lot of compassion, but draw the line at supporting criminals.

Sounds like the services are failing the citizens. You need more effective services.

Elrich does care.
The “social Justice” activists to the left of Elrich (yes, “left of Elrich” exists and it’s influential in MoCo, and that’s terrifying) that want to literally abolish the police, in some cases depending on who you ask, and others that want to render the existing police force toothless and impotent.

But yeah the DSA, SURJ, JUFJ etc they refused to endorse Elrich last time because of his compromises with law enforcement.

Left of Elrich is Mink and Jawando.

An insane 131% increase in auto theft.

19 carjackings in 2019 to 99 in 2023.

More murders and other violent crime.

The county descends into anarchy. Only a matter of time until progressivism blows it all up and people with the means to move will. The carjackings in Bethesda are going to make people leave. Then when the tax base fees the county is toast.

We can all thank the council for our large increase in auto insurance due to the massive amount of auto theft and car jackings. Everyone who obeys the law always gets the raw end of the deal while criminals get all of the benefits.

I am not kidding: they actually believe “wraparound services” will solve all crime.

Erlich doesn’t care.
The county council doesn’t care.
A loud minority of county residents don’t want the authorities to take any action.

dirty little secret - politicians don't care. The people getting hurt by the crime don't vote.

We just gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette, amirite?

https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2024/02/crime-increased-in-montgomery-county-for-third-straight-year-data-shows/

But at least we are making so much progress per the council. It’s only a matter of time until MoCo decays into Baltimore. Companies are already fleeing and gdp growth for the county is stagnant. Schools are in steep decline and now crime is going up. Once people start bailing en masse, the county is really screwed. What’s the point of living in MoCo anymore? Just move to Howard County, AA, or anywhere else just north and outside of Baltimore.

The funniest part is that PG does everything right and is tough on crime.
