OP here —thank you so much for not dismissing my post and for all your helpful suggestions.

Also look at Randolph Macon in Ashland, Hood College in Frederick, maybe Goucher College. If PA is not too far, Delaware Valley U has an interesting zoo science program, or Elizabethtown College.

my daughter is in basically the same spot. No experience yet, but she is very interested in the Take2 curriculum at Randolph. We have now visited the campus twice - she just recently auditioned for a Fine Arts Scholarship.

They are considering her for the Bridge program at Radford right now. They offered her a similar program at ODU, but they do not offer room and board there, so it wouldn't be worth it.

She is still waiting on Slippery Rock in PA and Dean in MA.

To be honest, she is probably down to Take2 at Randolph and staying home and attending NVCC. I just don't think anywhere else is going to be worth the expense (I think Randolph might come out to just over $20K).

Are you looking to apply for Fall 2024? For many schools, deadlines have passed, but smaller places may have more flexibility and still be looking for seats to fill.

Longwood, McDaniel, Lynchburg, and Radford are all good suggestions. Frostburg in MD may be another one to consider. I’ve also heard really great things about the supports at Marist College in New York, but that may only be realistic after a year at NoVa, given timeline and distance.

Maybe consider Shenandoah University? I think animal science will lead to a narrowing of your options.

Also if he chooses Nova look at the GMU Advance program. Basically it has dedicated coaches and smooths the path to transfer to GMU.

12th grader, didn't bother with the SAT. Poor previous hs grades, but finally this year with a more comprehensive IEP and much smaller classes, he's getting solid Bs. He has ADD and EF challenges.
He's considering NOVA, which we support. But any other options? Either in VA or not too far.
Any experiences with Randolph's Take2? Or Emory and Henry?
Possible areas of interest are computer science, animal science and... to be discovered.
