Next time before providing your own opinion ask Jane her opinion first and then John. See what happens.

It sounds like Jane is sucking up to John for whatever reason.
-He has more power.
-She likes him.
-She doesn't like you.
-She sees a power dynamic between you and John and wants to be on the side of John.

This is what has me perplexed as well.

Op here. It’s happening every time and she is assigned to be trained by me on this particular job.

Is John your boss?

Not my boss and it varies by the person, its almost a guarantee she will disagree.

Does Jane not like you or something? Honest question. Do you have a positive working relationship with her?

This. Also, Jane does not sound like she has any original ideas of her own.

I would take it as Jane agrees with John and is providing her input.

Should she not provide input?

“I agree with John” - I am taking these comments negatively but am I simply too sensitive?

Example:

Me: Let’s keep the slide that is in for Carey. That way he will see it early since he wants to use the design for his presentation to our CEO Carl next week.

John: No, let’s see if he can use a day or two to update next week, the design is easy, he will be fine.

Jane: I agree with John.

This consistently happens over and over again. How should I take this?
