We have to decide between Colvin Run and GFES JIP-LIV mixed. Does anyone have any experience with these?
We’ve heard that Colvin Run is academically harder, but I think the Japanese element of JIP is worth a lot.
My daughter loves Japanese, but she is also hungry for a challenge.
We are at Fox Mill JI and choose to stay in JI and not move to Oak Hill. We felt the language was it’s own challenge and that it would set him up better for MS and HS. He is going to take Japanese in 7th and 8th grade which will allow him to finish 4 years of a language by Junior year of HS.
The only area he has not been challenged in is math, he has added in math club and math competition classes to counter that. LA could be more challenging for him but it has not been problematic in any way.
Moving for LIV means swapping out a challenge. You have to decide which challenge is more important to you. I will point out that you can always move to the Center but you will not be able to rejoin JI.
