If 95% of the public didn’t have at least some interest in cars beyond simple reliability, vast segments of the internet, television and print periodicals and tens of thousands of annual vehicle related events wouldn’t exist. Not too mention enduring pop culture references and other cultural benchmarks associated with cars. But all these things DO exist - so clearly they’re serving more than 5% of the population.

Mazdas are generally FAR more fun to drive than any of the mainstream non-luxury brands (Toyota, Honda, the US brands, etc.).

Aside from the Miata, (which is now too heavy and fat for it’s available power) I would not call any of their offerings “fun”.

The rest of their entire line consists of non-hot hatchbacks, AWD wagons and boring sedans.

Sometimes you just want a car to get you from A to B.

I have a 2017 CX-5 Touring and no complaints whatsoever - smooth ride with no road noise. DH jokingly calls it a "boat" compared to his fun BMW sports car, but has no issues borrowing it frequently! I bought it used in 2021 with 35k miles and haven't had to do anything other than routine maintenance and patch a tire with a nail in it.

We have a 2016 CX5 and love it! No issues, just routine maintenance. We also went the certified preowned route.

NP: Would you recommend buying new or used?

I have a 2014 Mazda that I love. No major issues (knock on wood). Is a little harder on tires than other cars I've had but handles great and I still like driving it nearly 10 years into ownership.

2011 Mazda 3 owner 126K mile normal oil change and tier rotation.
has old interior but runs so good not ready to buy new one yet.

Same here except mine is a 2015! It’s been a great car, very reliable and I got it certified pre owned so I really think it was a bargain.

Thanks! That is really good to hear. We went to look at some today, new and used. We really liked the Mazda 3 and also the CX-30. I think both have beautiful interiors for fairly affordable cars. We were impressed!

Very good cars for the price. We are on our second Mazda 3 and have owned one since 2006. One of the most reasonably priced car on the market. We've definitely felt like we've gotten our money's worth. We have 120k miles on our 2016 Mazda 3 at the moment. All it has required thus far are routine fluid changes, brakes, and a suspension repair....basically all normal wear and tear stuff. No complaints at all.
