- capital punishment should be eliminated unless they have actual video of someone hurting children.
- I may not be crazy about abortion, but have no right telling a woman what to do with her own body.

- if you are in the US illegally, you get immediately deported, though on a practical basis, how do you get another country to accept them?
Anonymous wrote:Most left-wing: abortion should not be an issue we should legislate at all. We should leave it up to the woman and the healthcare system. Or at a minimum do something like France where it’s fine up to 14 weeks or whatever and then you need a note from another doctor saying it’s fine. Personally, I think it should be longer than 14 weeks but that approach has basically made it very accessible to get an abortion in France. No doctors are routinely seeing women coming in late in pregnancy who miss their wine time and just want an abortion. Ridiculous.
Most right wing: the term defund the police actively makes me angry every time I hear it. I understand the rationale, we need more social workers and behavioral specialist intervening because of the intersection between mental health and crime, but that was just never going to go over with most Americans and it was just an absolutely terrible slogan that I think has done a lot of damage.
We need better police training and different ways of dealing with many people in the criminal justice system system, but that slogan is costing us elections.
