It's easy to have record profits when you have significant inflation.
Like how my house is worth 20% more than two years ago. Record value! But in reality the buying power is diminished.
The WH is downplaying the real inflation in food, which has definitely been more than 20% across the board. Many staples I buy are easily 40 to 50% more. It's going from $3 to $5. Or $6 to $9. Or quantity reduced from 16 oz to 14.5 oz.
Not everything has gone up but enough have. And supermarkets also have noticeably fewer workers now.
Because they’ve automated processes like checkouts, duh. And workers can get better paying jobs elsewhere. Are you denying that corporate profits are at record highs?
