Not just shorter, but I’m hearing there is more time to complete the answers. Levels the playing field for all those who can’t afford a neuropsych eval or aren’t willing to game the system to get extra time.

This sounds reasonable to me. I lived through the paper to digital GMAT transition year, and I concentrated a lot on being accurate in the early to middle part of the digital test so I wouldn't get bumped to the lower scoring path. It worked.

Digital is better for kids who work more slowly and have trouble finishing. Paper is better for the ones who have a tendency to rush and make silly mistakes.

My kid seems to do worse on digital (based on PSAT scores - paper in 10th and digital in 11th). I wish she had taken the SAT earlier so she would have had time to take another paper but instead she needs to prepare for the digital now.

DD’s score went down 70 points from paper PSAT9 (fall of 9th) to digital PSAT (fall of 10th). DD tends to work fast and smart but sometimes makes careless errors. Anecdotally it seems like that’s the kind of kid whose score is most likely to go down, just because the number of questions is smaller so each careless error hurts more.

Yes.
They're testing it now in certain markets. When my son registered for the ACT next month the website asked him if he wanted to take it digitally if that was available in his area.
He said no because he wanted a paper test so I'm not sure if it was an option for him (here in the DMV)
