Much easier in a rehab facility where all the rehab professionals go to the rehab facility rather than you making appointments and driving the patient to the appointments. When FIL needed OT, PT and some kind of cognitive therapy after what turned out to be a bunch of little TIAs that no one knew about, that was strongly suggested to us. After about 8-9 weeks of daily therapies, he came back home. There was no way for us to have all those visits at home (we had to go to the therapists if not in a rehab facility). This was in FL. I figure if it can't be done in FL, it privably can't be done anywhere

Medicare itself doesn't care. If they have a medicare advantage plan there may be issues, because basically a medicare advantage plan replaces your portable and defined medicare benefits with a limited HMO. I think most of them in the DMV still cover the local area, but it's going to depend on exactly which plan.

We did rehab for the same problem (very old person who takes time to rebuild strength and mobility after even a mild illness) about nine months ago. We were at the top rated facility in our area. The PT was a joke. This time we want to try something different.

CM= Case Manager. If you haven’t spoken to them ask for them to have the CM come to speak to you about discharge plans.

State line

Our elder is in the hospital and will need rehab after the hospital. We would ideally like him to receive services at a family member’s home instead of a rehab facility, but the home is in Fairfax and he lives in MoCo.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Suggestions for home health agencies?
