Well you can't technically put on the bumper sticker "I bought this before Elon went crazy"

I definitely think people judge new Tesla drivers because Elon is so scary at this point.

Even before he was a known jerk, I didn't want one because there are so many issues.

One day at school, a mom couldn't get into her Tesla because her phone died. She had to call her husband to bring her a battery pack for her phone so she could start her car. That's just ridiculous to me.

Love my Model Y and about to lease another. It is our only car so we use for both local and road trip driving. Charge in my apartment building and my office (both have medium speed chargers available). Have had no maintenance expenses other than rotating tires. Agree with other poster that capacity is great and ownership is smooth. We probably lose a few minutes on road trips, but usually just charge while getting a snack etc. on NJ Turnpike or similar and would probably do that with a gas car too. Much better than other EVs out there right now.

We have two tesla x’s and they are great. We charge at home, mostly off solar panels and we use superchargers on road trips. Maintenance has been minimal, but we did notice that tires wear more quickly than we expected. We drive a lot of miles and switch all season for winter tires every 6 mo, so it might be our particular experience. Also, if you go on road trips, a tesla will take longer. A 4 h trip becomes a 4.5h trip. An 8 h trip becomes a 9h trip. We have an old dog, so I don’t mind stopping longer, but you need to budget that time.

It is nice not to have to deal with oil changes, transmissions, brakes, radiators, etc. And you can hang out in an air conditioned or heated car while parked, watch Netflix, and not worry about idling. I went from city living where I spent less than an hour a week in my car to a small town where I spend a few hours, and it’s a comfortable car for school runs and sports pickup. The cargo area is more spacious than in appears because there are a few extra compartments where the engine would have been. And it has an excellent safety profile. I plan to not buy gas for the next 20 years with these cars.

The new revised Model 3 is very very nice. Much nicer than any other electric sedans on the market and I’ve owned or driven nearly all of them (Etron, Ioniq, Bolt, Lucid Air, Polestar, latest BMW, more) except for the Porsche Tycan. The only electric vehicle that I think comes close is the Rivian (which I also own and like). The software is a huge part of the car and everyone else’s software is pretty much garbage in comparison.

There's such a small price difference between used and new that you might as well buy the new and improved model.

Already fixed. These recall notices are sort of ridiculous. The day after it’s out, Tesla releases a software update to address it. Tesla has never had a Model 3 or Model Y recall requiring one to bring in their vehicle for a fix.

I had them I sold them such garbage. So many better EV's out there.

Tesla keeps dropping their prices lately. If you can wait another year they will be much cheaper.

OP, lots of trolls here re Tesla. We've had ours for 5 years. No problems at all. It is great to drive, much less expensive than gas, and reliable. Our insurance did not go up. We charge at home and sometimes at superchargers.

I don't know anyone who has been unhappy in real life. One bought second car after someone totaled theirs and another is upgrading to new model.
I'm waiting for their small car to come out because I barely drive, drive mostly in the city, and have fairly new car- 5 years old.

If it’s more expensive than your current vehicle, your rates will go up.

Also, rates for EV’s are higher too, because they’re more expensive to repair, and they tend to be higher performance cars, too.

We are thinking of buying a slightly used Tesla (20k miles or so) Do you like your Tesla? We drove one on vacation and liked it, but wonder about downsides. It would be for very local driving mostly.
