You’re confusing saving your wife or child versus your old father or mother.

Some cultures’ adults are guilted into saving the elderly at the expense of the current and next generation.

My kids because my husband would never forgive me otherwise, and he would also choose the kids over me for the same reason.

Most parents would sacrifice themselves for their child to live on.

I’d save my child, mostly because I believe my partner is a competent adult and my child isn’t.

I guess if this isn’t a skills test, I’d also save my child. My spouse has had a chance to experience things in life, my child hasn’t.

Is this some kind of those weird love /loyalty tests? If my spouse was doing one of those to me, they’d be the first to go, every time.
