I’ve been working my way through Stolen Focus by Johann Hari; interesting and a bit scary. Also rereading KJ’s Any Old Diamonds (historical romance with jewel thieves) for something lighter.

Interesting! I started it last month but didn’t get to finish before it had to go back to the library. I was planning to try again (a friend recommended it) but I can’t really say the intro grabbed me.

Emily Wilson’s translation of the Iliad. The introductory material was really interesting and so far the translation is very accessible.

Felt the same way. But my mother read it when it came out, and immediately sent me a hardcover copy. She couldn’t stop raving about it. I think she could relate to quite a bit in the story.

Anyway. I just started rereading The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver. Found my original copy while cleaning out a closet!

I just finished More after getting it from the library and based on this NYT article

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/26/books/review/podcast-open-marriage-molly-winter.html

I am considering starting a new thread about it I’m so disappointed and have too many comments to keep to myself (but don’t want to admit to my book friends I read this to begin with)

Going back to my Taylor Jenkins Reid marathon

After being on hold forever at the library, I finally picked up Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. I read Bel Canto years ago and enjoyed it, but haven't read anything else by her.

What's on your agenda for February?
