maybe more difficult nowadays but 2023 stats for direct admit/honors:
3.9/4.75
1500
main ec - small business with 6 figures revenue annually

i think cs is still more competitive but business is not far off.

Just curious...does Smith offer something special with respect to entrepreneurship or otherwise? I guess I would be far more strategic for college with a kid that has a small business already generating 6 figures annually unless it is something like re-selling tons of stuff on Amazon (where you can have high revenue, but also a high cost of sales...so profit is fairly small) and is not something that your kid intends to continue for a career.

Again, not saying Smith does not satisfy that strategy, but would probably be a different college search in general.

It seems that it’s rare to get in the business school test optional, or that would be my conclusion, at least.

Does MoCo weight grades differently? For my DCPS kid it is literally impossible to get a weighted 4.7 even with an unweighted 4.0 and just going absolutely nuts with A/P classes (like taking as many randoms like A/P Psyche, AP Human Geography, etc.)...too many required classes (P/E, music, foreign language, etc.) are only offered grade-level until you get to AP.

Yeah mcps has have same weight between honors and AP. But my kid ended up with 16 APs at the end.

Mine was denied with this gpa but only a 1460. May have been better off TO.

What year 2024? I think it has gotten harder in state, even in the last two years. I have a friend that had a 2022 and 2024, with similar stats and test scores, first child was honors and Engineering and 2nd child freshman connection, Letters and Science.

I would like to know if your child was admitted without test scores. I have a junior applying next year. We are instate and UMD is his first choice.
