Can anyone who took AP French at TJ comment on the workload please?

Rising 12th grader and is taking French 3 at TJ for 11th grade.

This is the last year in which students have a choice between going to French 4 and AP French and both are offered this year. From next year students have to take French 4.

I understand colleges want to see as many years of language as possible. If your kid is a rising 12th grader, maybe go straight to AP, if you think he can handle it with the rest of the schedule. If he's in another grade, then it would be better to take the level 4, then the AP, to ensure good grades - the GPA is paramount for college admissions. However, what if there's a science track or whatever else that's super interesting, that your kid could take if he completes his language early? That's where no one has the right answer.

Is French 4 even offered? Given the rigor at which languages are taught at TJ, if student has taken World Language 2 and 3 at TJ, they are more than prepared to take on the AP level. And, AP courses at TJ are more like AP+ in terms of effort needed, but the good news is with that level of in-depth learning, they find the college board exam an easy 5.
