Take his insurance info, and go with him today to the bank to get cash for $2500.

Insurance companies are much stricter on premiums and dropping clients even when not as fault — simply having an accident changes the modeling.

Tell him you will be in touch for the difference (either you pay him back or charge him the diff) but for a bumper repair thst should get you almost there. Body work is $$$$.

OP here. Not sure if they would but I am guessing it would be a push for them to do so.
The thing is that we can get by without the car for a few days but it would make life much more difficult. We do rely on our car.

If you go through insurance remember your car will be recorded as an accident in your carfax report

If the other driver paying set it up right away and you and them agree on price and place. Get estimate, he pays.

Go through insurance might be better if you don’t trust other driver

OP here. I hadn't thought of my car being noted as being in an accident via a carfax report if we go through insurance. Something to think about. Thank you for your thoughts PP.

A car hit our parked car and caused minor damage but still damage that needs to be repaired (bumper falling off and a heavy scratch about 1.5 feet long). The driver does not want to go through insurance. What are the pros and cons of going this route for me (not so worried about the driver)? Is it just easier to go through insurance? If I do contact the driver's insurance company is there any way that my insurance premiums will go up despite it being 100% the driver's fault?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can share
