With $6m budget, I’d either keep the house in Rehobeth and buy a second vacation home someplace I like to go in the winter (either warm weather or ski), OR I’d do as a po suggested and sell the Rehobeth place and buy a beach home someplace with warm or at least mild winters- Kiawah was a great idea because it is both an easy flight and doable as a drive from DC (assuming you plan to stay here post retirement).

If you golf, Kiawah. Much better winters.

I find Rehoboth and Bethany very boring to be honest, so with your budget, you should explore other locations.

I don’t think anyone can answer this without knowing your travel preferences.

Dh and I have been extremely fortunate in business and are planning an early retirement in a few years when our youngest goes to college.
We currently have a great vacation beach house in rehoboth beach. Ocean block, very short walk to town center and renovated. It’s worth around $3M. But we would like to upgrade to something nicer and are willing to consider different locations.
