Just make the first 2 lease payments, then call the leasing company and ask for the buyout amount. Send a check and be fine with it.

Because Toyotas are manufactured out of the country, they are not eligible for the EV tax benefit. Toyota offers $6500 to be applied to a leasing agreement. We can pay for the car in cash, so it was suggested to us that we enter into a lease, get the $6500 drop in price, and then pay the lease off right away. I think this adds an administrative burden of dealing with title when you pay off the lease. If you've done this, can you let me know about the process? I'm worried about screwing it up and ending up with it being more of a headache than it's worth. Thanks!
