Pick a VA or MD state park and go cabin camping. Some of the ones by the water have kayaking and other beach things to do - it’s colder but kids still love the beach and nature stuff. Bring bikes and scooters an and some games. Camp fire, s’mores…

We have been all these places too- the only other ones not mentioned by you or others would be Hershey Hotel (they do kids activities, indoor pool) and you could do some other lancaster stuff you haven't done yet if you have extra time. Also NYC.

There is also the Homestead (Omni, in Hot springs va 4 hr drive, not cheap- Nemacolin has more to do).

Nemacolin would have stuff for those ages (we've done it more than once- pricey but activities for everyone- sometimes if you call you can figure out better deals).

We have repeated trips- different things in Philly than the last time, other things in williamsburg. We've done Lancaster more than once, but your kids are getting older for that. You can stop in Richmond on way to Virginia Beach.

There are some resorts further north in NY (longer drive)- Mohonk Mountain House, Rocking Horse Ranch. Woodloch in PA.

New York is an obvious choice. We drove and parked the car and left it until we drove home. You can also take the train, although it's not cheap, or take a bus. There's so much to do for kids and adults.

Annapolis, Gettysburg, Harpers Ferry, Bucks County, PA.

You have hit most of the ideal spots. And have some good suggestions for more.

A few ideas if you are willing to either reduce or increase how far you drive.

closer- depending on were you live, just try the other side of the beltway. We are in Rockville and once spent three nights at the National Harbor. It was like a staycation, but felt like a destination. From there we did Mount Vernon, some boating, etc. If you are in VA, head to Frederick, and spend some time exploring.

farther- NYC or Columbus

Virginia Beach, Richmond or Ocean City. Just pick hotels with pools.

We did the Luray VA area - a tubing trip on the river, hiking in Shenandoah, Luray Caverns, etc.

The Cavalier Hotel & Beach Club in Virginia Beach has nice rooms and great indoor pool. It won’t be beach weather, but there is a nice aquarium and state park nearby.

Or, Richmond is also another good option. The Quirk and The Jefferson are nice hotels.

Has anybody done Charlottesville? Kids are 9 and 14. Maybe Monticello and something other attraction?

We have also already done Williamsburg but thanks for playing! Ugh, I feel like there's nowhere left. I just looked up Nemacolin and I can't justify $800+ a night for PA.

Williamsburg Inn?

Looking for ideas where we could go for two or three nights within easy driving distance for a spring break getaway. You get so many results in the results that searching is not helpful.

We've done Philly, Lancaster, Pittsburgh. A lot of the resorts like Massanutten get very poor hotel reviews. We like a nice room. We've been to Hyatt Chesapeake and Berkeley Springs. Don't want to pay for Greenbrier. Doubtful about Wintergreen. Not Baltimore either. What am I missing?
