Once my daughter was able to sit up, the pediatrician said at one of her appointments after the usual developmental/safety briefing: “you’re going to think this is crazy, but we need to talk about your safety, mom!”. And then he gave me a spiel kids rearing up and knocking their parents’ jaw and breaking teeth.

I’ve been paranoid ever since because I already have two fake front teeth from a childhood injury. I’m so sorry, OP. Even with my pediatrician’s warning, I’ve had so many close calls. And this doesn’t go away- every time my DD has a growth spurt she loses spatial awareness for a couple of months and becomes dangerous again!

Mine nearly shattered my eye orbit with a kleen kanteen. Took a long time to heal. Was not easy to stay cool.

Same thing happened to me. I’m always careful when near my kids’ heads now. Hope you get through this okay.

My daughter bumped me the same way at 5 but luckily I just got a bloody swollen lip and no tooth damage. I’m so sorry! Being a parent is hard.

When I was a teenager I was babysitting a toddler and when her dad came home she jumped up while he was bending down to hug her, and she broke his nose. It was the first time I gave someone a bath - I had to wash blood out of her hair while the wife took him to the hospital.

This happened to me when I bent down to pet my dog. He got so excited he jumped up and bashed his skull into my lower jaw. I guess this is an occupational hazard when interacting with small creatures!

Mine did the same last year! I had to see a specialized dentist and get a fake tooth (bridge). Kid was 5 and also just lifted his head while sitting in my lap, but did it at the wrong angle. I’m so sorry! It’s such a pain to get fixed.

I can't even make this up. Bend down to hug child. Dad decides to say something exciting. Bam! Jump head to mouth multiple teeth broken. I'm livid. I know it was an accident but I'm seriously in the middle of several health crises and I don't need this right now.
