Then my local (MD) ex-SIL took her DD, then 8, to NYC to meet with some sort of sketchy child talent agency. They spent a weekend there and likely paid for head shots or photo shoots, then returned home. Crickets. Niece did exactly one modeling assignment: in dance wear for publication in a dance catalog. And that was the beginning and end of the modeling. Niece now a teen and quit dance and any interest in modeling years ago.
That’s good it didn’t turn out worse for your ex-SIL. You have to research who the top agencies are and only go with those. They can refer you to legitimate photographers.
