Yeah, he was at the cardiologist for the stress test. The results were normal. I’m hoping he will listen to the cardiologist’s advice about exercise. But yeah, it is common sense and DH is not stupid. His family makes poor lifestyle choices and he’s seen the consequences, but he is not motivated enough.

He is doing a fine job fooling everyone because he certainly sounds stupid.

Its frustrating that he didn't listen to you all these years. That being said, I hope he is willing now. Start with walking together every day. Consider what would be best for him. My exercise-allergic father was fine with walking on a treadmill listening to audio books.

I sure hope a stress test has been ordered for DH. Having chest pain with any exercise is not normal.

If his chest hurts when he exercises, he should get a stress test done before staring a workout program.

How do you know that? That's hard to believe. Every PCP talks about diet/exercise during visits

DH told me the PCP didn’t mention lifestyle changes. Just adjusted his medications. I doubt he was lying since he seemed so surprised by the cardiologist’s advice.

I force DH to go for easy hikes with me on the weekend, and he says that doesn’t cause chest pain. But he refuses to walk midweek because he thinks they aren’t helpful. I’ve told him that something is better than nothing, but he won’t listen to me.

Is he dumb or something?

+1. Very few people need an MD/PCP to tell them to exercise.

It also sounds like your DH doesn't want to follow the advice, regardless of how he receives it. So your beef is with???

Why would you blame the doctor instead of your lazy ass husband? This is beyond common knowledge.

Lots of PCP have given up on discussing diet and exercise, at least beyond dropping “try to eat healthy and exercise” into a very rushed appointment. And I get it. So I’m not surprised the pcp didn’t discuss it.

ok, well will he now listen to his cardiologist?

I find some PCP are horrible. Quick in and out, and just prescribe a drug for what ails you. Horrible. But, your DH sounds like he's happy with that kind of quick fix.

All exercise makes his chest hurt? Even a brisk walk?

Did your DH honestly think having high blood pressure is a condition that means he should never exercise again?
