mine covered by insurance also. just make sure you answer correctly when taking vision test to show it impacts vision. procedure is uncomfortable under local with valium but not painful. lets be real, if you’ve gone thru childbirth this is getting a bandage ripped off. recovery pretty easy. get those compression goggles to reduce swelling and plan to be home a few days. then wear sunglasses. takes years off appearance.

This is OP. I’m glad this is an option. I will look around until I find a doctor who does local. I have had eye surgery before, local, and didn’t even need a Valium or anything. It was NBD to me.

This is OP. I was about 8 when my dad had his done. It was “dad has droopy eyelids and they are getting in the way of his vision, so they are going to fix them for him.”

My DH isn’t into it either, thinks I’ll look like I had an face lift or something. I can’t convince him it’s not the same thing.

How did you explain it to your husband and kids if you did it? I really want, borderline need one. DH is not into the idea, and my kids are young and may not understand. Really the only thing holding me back is how to explain it to my family.

It's sooooo easy! I am a huge baby about medical stuff and I have a very low pain tolerance, and I would definitely do it again. Some doctors offer a choice of an in-office procedure or where you are asleep in the operating room (usually with IV sedation, not general). I opted for the operating room because I did not want to be awake for it!

There was virtually no pain. I think I took Tylonol for a few days. The bruising and swelling were a LOT. I definitely did not leave my house for a week. I felt totally fine, but I didn't want people to see me like that. I don't think I had any stitches that had to be removed, but this was 10 years ago, so I might be remembering wrong. Eyelids heal extremely fast. After just a few weeks, you couldn't even see a scar, and I didn't use any scar treatments or anything.

My results looked very natural but definitely better. A few people cocked their heads and said "did you get a haircut? You look great!" So they could see I liked better but couldn't put their finger on why. No obvious "plastic" appearance.

I did it and wish I had done it earlier. It is so easy! I was in twilight but if I had to do it again- I would just opt for the office under local.

I can’t handle my heavy eyelids much more and I’m thinking of pulling the trigger, but I’m terrified. Terrified it’ll hurt terribly. Terrified I’ll look weird or have bad scarring or stretching.

Do they put you asleep? Or is it twilight like wisdom teeth removal? How is the recovery? Was it awful? My dad had it done when I was a child and his stitches ripped open one night and he began spurting blood. The doctor came to our house to close him up! It was scary! This experience has tainted my view on the whole thing. So tell me about your experience!
