Would they be interested in a theater camp? Encore did a great job with my similar profile kid at that age. He did like the performance part, but I think as long as youre not absolutely terrified, its a good environment.

The camp at the JCC in Rockville used to be a great option. It may still be - I’m no longer in the area. There is a JCC in Rockville and they may have a similar program. You do not need to be Jewish.

Some speech therapy clinics run camps during the summer.
I am in MD so not sure about what options there are in VA but it's worth looking into.

Subject: Camps for kids with SN?
My five-year-old has ADHD and a language issue. We are located in the Fairfax County part of Alexandria and trying to figure out the summer. I am leaning toward a babysitter because he gets overwhelmed in new situations, but his older sister wants to do camps so was thinking of trying to ID some weeks where they could both do camp while the sitter is on vacation. Are there any camps that would be a good fit for a kid his age who does okay in a classroom environment but needs a little time to warm up to peers and maybe a little more warm and fuzziness than your typical rec center camp?
