I haven't done it, but Vail. You can fly in to Denver and there are shuttles that go to Vail, and ski in/out resorts.

Not cheap though.

Train stop is called Essex Junction. Mapquest says 25 mins.

I've taken the Vermonter up that way in the winter and have seen lots of folks get off at Essex Junction with ski gear. Not sure which slopes they are headed too.

We do weekend trips to tremblant. Flight to Montreal is 1.5 hours, then we rent a car and drive 1 hour 20 to an Airbnb. Otherwise we fly to SLC and drive 30 minutes to park city. But Montreal is much closer even including the drive time.

And bolton valley is more like 40 minutes.

I may be wrong, but Vermont has little Uber action outside of Burlington. And not much in it.

The issue with a long weekend in SLC is that the direct flights can be crazy expensive. I do it sometimes, but if you don't fly direct, you tend to lose an entire day going back.

Fly to SLC for a long weekend. Take the early AM direct flight, you’ll be on the slopes by lunch. Can ski until 3pm and take the evening flight back to DC. Just use Uber to stay in Park City and walk from accommodations to your lift. Pretty easy, no need to rent a car.

Otherwise fly IAD-GVA overnight and take train or busses to dozens of world class Alps resorts in France and Switzerland.

We have done it and know plenty of people that do SLC/Park City for weekend trips.

Any suggestions for a wknd trip - skiing - but not driving? Train, plane, or bus from DC area?

I have seen dc ski bus trips on FB and have not done, but maybe I should try? Or other ideas?
