I am not shoveling the snow on my sidewalk right now because there is ice underneath. It's currently safer to walk on that snow. If it gets warm enough that the ice can start melting then I'll try to remove it.

Not OP but there’s a house like this on our street—we see them out all summer doing yard work, other strenuous activities, playing with kids, but come winter they only shovel the strip to back their SUV out of the driveway.

Their elderly neighbors get out and shovel but these folks are just entitled.

Reported them last winter after I fell walking the dog (no sidewalk on the other side of the street) and code enforcement ticketed them.

Go on over and start shoveling his area. It is the neighborly thing to do. He might have a health condition.

Fairfax is not the law

You could go over and passive aggressively say "hey I notice you haven't gotten to your sidewalk yet -- are you not feeling well? I can get it for you if you're sick."

Or if it's a violation of a city ordinance, you could report him.

Or you can let it go.

He might have covid or the flu. Is he even home? May be out of town. Proof of life?

Where do you live? In Fairfax county it is the right thing to do but NOT the law.

Do you mean the sidewalk in front of his house? He’s required to shovel that. Not required to shovel anything else.
