I hand clocked his 100M and 400M times on the tracks with regular tennis shoes and they are 15 sec and 1m10s respectively. Are there any track athletes here and can put these times into perspectives? I assume these are just general fast times but not that impressive in the eyes of track athletes.

For the, 400- 50-57 seconds
This is for girls and boys right.... for boys 100 10.4-11.2, 400 47-49
I am thinking of competing in JV as a freshman.

For 12 I would say the 100 time is a bit slow... would look for something in the 13 to be good... for the 400 I would say anything closer to 1 min... But it is still early, probably those teams say that because your son is quick. In the 100 you have to learn how to accelerate to top speed and maintain top speed as long as possible for the 400 that is a different situation that takes heart.
who am I... I coach elite high school athletes for years at an inner-city school... Coach multiple kids under 10.6 and also 48.5
