If you're so impatient, exit the HOV and reenter at the next opportunity. The HOV is not the "fast lane", you self important moron.

I refuse to speed way over the pace of non-HOV cars on the other lanes. We're ALL going above the speed limit anyway, and I'm faster than the non-HOV cars. In that context, if a crazy person want to go even faster, he's welcome to go around me. This has happened over the years, and no one honked or misbehaved. 99% of the time, the racecar drivers know the other cars are not moving for them and just deal with it.

It's worse than rude to cruise at over 10mph over the speed limit.

+1 That’s the Virginia state motto after all.

On the highway, speed up (if you feel comfortable doing so) to maintain the pace of traffic or move over. Except never exceed 19mph over the speed limit.

If they tailgate, be a schmuck and drive the speed limit.

Move over. It’s rude to cruise with a line of cars behind you in the hov lane.

If you are driving on a road that has only one HOV lane (like the Dulles toll road) what is the appropriate etiquette for other cars in the HOV lane that want to drive faster than you? Assume you are already going above the speed limit but they want to go more above the speed limit. Should you get out of the HOV lane and slow down so they can pass or is that just their problem that they want to drive faster than you feel comfortable?

I normally drive 10 MPH over the speed limit but I feel like I constantly have people zooming up behind me and tailgating.
