I am 57, 5 years into menopause and have never had a hot flash. I’m not lying.

Some women do experience what your friend seems to be experiencing - hormonal hot flashes (I assume she’s talked to a Dr?). Of course not all women experience it the same way, but it probably helps her to think she’s not alone.

No, of course every woman doesn't end up in a puddle of sweat constantly.

Just one data point: I'm 56, menopause for 6 years. I have occasional mild hot flashes where I feel hot for a few minutes. That's it.

But your friend definitely should speak to her doctor. A PP mentioned Veozah, which is non-hormonal. And HRT, if no risk factors, would be a good consideration for her as well.

I too thought that many of the symptoms went away after menopause, and she’s been completely done wiith periods for a long time. I wonder if there are other health issues at play. She attributes absolutely everything to menopause.

No. There is a huge range as to what women experience.

You friend should talk to her dr about Veozah

My friend, 48 is a bit ahead of me, menopause-wise. She hasn’t bled since she was 41 and has been experiencing increasingly severe symptoms since then. I haven’t missed a period yet, and don’t think I’ve experienced any perimenopause symptoms. (Hard to say for sure though since I have other issues that present similarly).

My friend has terrible hot flashes that involve sweat literally pouring from her face and neck and soaking her clothing. She warns me that this is what happens to every woman. I remember my mother fanning herself sometimes but I don’t recall anything as severe as what my friend is experiencing. My friend says that all women get hot flashes and that hot flashes involve puddles of sweat.

If this is what happens to me, I’ll live with it. But is it really that bad for everyone? She insists that it is, that women who claim not to have these issues are lying, and that my time is coming. She’s scaring the crap out of me.
