Probably for many of them. There's a reason for a huge turnover in rosters for USNT players in the college years....

Politics -- might just might get you in the door but not on the team.

All met isn't plugged into things. HS soccer is social more than anything, especially around here.


So would it be the case that maybe these particular players didn't do much when they were playing for their high schools? Or maybe missed a bunch of games to play with their clubs?

I think if I'm doing All-Met for the Post, I'm checking with every scout and every scouting service I can find. If someone's getting called into national camps, I'm going to say it's safe to assume there aren't 30 better high school players out there.

I did find a couple of their football selections ... idiosyncratic?

There are other words in these paragraphs besides "US Soccer," "Washington Post" and "scouting." You can't just insert your own.

All met isn't plugged into things. HS soccer is social more than anything, especially around here.
