I'd go to HD a few days before photos or showings and buy some daffodils currently in bloom.

I had a hard time getting pansies in March. But I only checked a few places.

This is definitely true, but you’re as likely to have spent daffodils at the important moment as blooming ones. I love daffodils, I just don’t think by themselves they’re what OP should focus on. I think she should just buy mulch and container plants.

It’s really too late to worry about this. Get some pansies or snapdragons for containers the week before you list it. Put down some fresh mulch. It will be fine.

You might also be able to find some big ferns in the houseplant season that would be okay outside and look good and full in containers for a short period.

I agree with both PPs (Re: Hellebores and that it is probably not worth bothering), but some additional options would be spring bulbs: crocuses, hyacinths, and early blooming daffodils/narcissus.

It is too late to start those bulbs in the ground for this March, but you could buy them in pots at that time and transplant them into your pots and a few key areas in your yard that you want to highlight.

Inventory is low enough that it shouldn't matter.

Hellebores? They are $ though

We are selling our home mid-March. I'd like to spruce up our yard to look nice and add some potted flowers, but it's a tough time of year as temps can still be quite cold (DC area).

I know I can do pansies, but anything else that might look good around that time of year? Both planted in the ground as well as for some pots and railing hangers on our deck.
