The heat does not bother my daughter one bit. She missed soccer over winter break and is happy to have it back on. Do it only if your kid wants to. I'd rather she not so I can have a break, but she loves it.

Locally might be mid level but when/if u make it to Florida u will see a ton of ecnl bags…and talent jumps wasaaaay up

I can see some potential downsides to the Super Y League... poor scheduling, too many practices.... not giving your kids a break, difficult competition to think of a few....

Thanks, I was considering for my kid, but found out our club doesn't have a Super Y team, but im not sure if its worth it to try out for a another team.

McLean starts offers with the top kids and work their way down the teams. The roster is usually fairly large as it allows for conflicts. My kid had fun on it but it can be hot and you don’t get an edge with the team come Fall typically.

+1 any club that participates in super y cares more about coach pay than player welfare

Yes this is true for MYS. when my DD was on gold, they didn’t even offer/let the girls know to try out.

My kid loves playing every summer. He prefers the adrenaline rush and intensity of games- even super y level games. He's a good player and generally gets lots of playing time. This will be his 4th year. Every kid is different. Try it one summer and make your own decision.

I was going to say the same thing. Most of the teams seem to be a combination of some kids from the top team with the remaining kids from 2nd or 3rd team. If your kid isnt on the top team in might be a good experience practicing against and playing against some kids from higher level teams. If your kid is already on the top team I think its only worth while if you are switching from 7v7 to 9v9 or 9v9 to 11 v 11. So summer after u10 or u12.

It's for anyone but clubs will take the best players who try out for their club at that time. At our club, they have two teams for some ages for this reason. If there is only one team, it's generally a mix of 1st and 2nd team players not by rules, just by which kids decide to tryout that year.

My son was on a mid-level team during the regular season, and made a Super Y team most years (there was only one team at his club, although a few of the better players from the top team played a year up, freeing up spots). He played defense, and it didn't seem like as many defensive players were interested/available during the summer. Try out and see what happens.
