Goldfish is the last thing I would keep. No teens yet, but I can see them eating anything they can get their hands on. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the 10-year old, but mostly melted cheese on French organic baguette.
Got to be organic as it hurts my stomach it's just plain white.

A couple years ago, this topic went viral and people started calling homes without snacks an “ingredients household.” I stick to a mix of ingredients and ready-to-go snacks mostly to save time & sanity, but also because a lot of kids who grow up in ingredients-only homes overindulge in all the things they were denied as kids once they move out.

We have two athletic, social teens. If they’re not eating at home, they’ll buy it outside with friends. Much easier to control food when kids are young. Once kids are teens, we strive for balance and moderation.

Yes, but with a milk and nut allergy in the house, few fit the bill. That also means cheese(sticks), yogurt, and most granola bars are also o-u-t.

We do but not Goldfish. I’ve always been more of a Cheezits person.
Yogurt and nuts seem to be DD 11 go to snack right now. Or fruit, she likes a banana or apple with peanut butter or Nutella. Or a smoothie.

A little. Mostly we have fruit, cut up veg, cheese, nuts, etc. A few times through the fall homemade applesauce is available. If we go to Costco I get dried mango and we often have roasted seaweed or kale chips.

Yes of course.

I make minimally processed home cooked dinners most nights, but we have store-bought snacks and other grocery store products.

We don't keep a lot of junk food in the house but certainly have some processed foods - ie I might buy triscuits or pretzels each week. For snacks my tween generally. has seaweed, fruit of all kinds, applesauce, cottage cheese, string cheese, dried fruit etc. Occasionally I will buy things like Cheez its, rarely chips and then we do bake and have baked cookies or other treats on hand at times. There's also a small basket of candy in the pantry - leftover from various holidays and what not. She will usually have a few a week.

I try not to but I give in to requests. I don’t shy away from telling him that sugary drinks or processed snacks are bad, but they exist and it’s fine to eat them but in small amounts. So far so good.

I do

I just keep a variety of snacks with different health levels. You'll always find granola, yogurt, hummus, pretzels, cheesesticks and fruit along with chips, icecream, cookies, snack cakes and candy. Kids are all about packaging and presentation. Kids hang out at my house because of my snack offerings. I didnt realize it was a thing until another kid told us. The only thing I refuse to buy is soft drinks or juice.

Some, not a huge amount.

I try to have unprocessed things that are convenient and easy to grab. My kids like to eat healthy in theory, but they rush so I have to make it easy. But we have some processed food too.

Yes but I only go shopping once a week and if they eat everything, there is no more.

I try to take an “everything in moderation” approach, but my teens will almost always opt for Goldfish and other processed food if we have it. I’ve thought of not buying it, but I hate sending the message that anything is “bad.”
