This is so Arlington. Why can’t I take my kid out for a week to ski?!

Yes in 8th grade they have midterms and big tests at the end of the 2nd quarter in the high school level classes.

Two weeks over the holidays is more than a proper winter break.

If you are a serious skier this is too early to guarantee good conditions. Happens some years and more often than not lately, not other years.

Both my kids are in APS (current HS and MS on accelerated tracks) and never had "midterms" in MS.

The issue is not having time to make up work/tests before end of quarter.

My 8th grader has a geometry midterm, world geography midterm, major English essay and their science project all in the next ten days.

What school? Our MS does not call it midterms. Yes there are unit tests and projects.

Check next year’s calendar and plan your trip at beginning of 3rd quarter.

My 6th grader is so jammed now.

While I’m sure your future 6th grader will be fine, I feel like the days are past of taking a “ski week”. That’s what winter break was for, or the three day weekends in Jan and Feb of which there are a few.

Sorry I meant this weekend MLK and Prez. So exams are not this week so they could go away?

And people wonder why there is an absenteeism problem in schools.

My kid had midterms in Algebra intensified in 8th grade. It could be teacher dependent.

There aren't really mid terms per se, but it is end of quarter.

It depends on the class and the school.

We have 5th grader and trying to plan for next year ski season. We heard that this week is midterm week for APS high schools, is it also for middle school? Is it all week long?
