PP is correct. The only AP class that would be taken by many sophomores (not all), is AP World Hist.

You could take AP Com Sci Principles (kind of a waste of time if you have some experience coding, but a good starter class if you have no experience with computers but want to learn about com sci). You can also take AP Com Sci A if you have already taken Geometry.

Other than that, there wouldn't be 10th graders taking other AP classes. It would be an anomaly if someone says they know of a 10th grader taking ___ AP class. Not typical at all.

FWIW I’ve had kids at Madison for the last 7 years and most just take AP World, with a handful also opting for computer science. I won’t say it never happens but I’ve never come across a kid taking more than 2 APs that year (AP Calc being an option starting this year may change that some for kids very advanced in math).

Thank you. Am happy to read this

Let them be kids and have time to hang out and do other things besides schoolwork. It’s all going to even out once they are in college. Your child will not be behind if they don’t load up on AP classes, but they will be stressed. Really bright kids need time to reflect and pursue their own interests,

No I am very happy to have my child take only one AP class in 10th. I did check out the course selection. Like my first one did they will take only AP world.

I was concerned about things having changed and the norm being kids taking more APs in their 10th.

Did you child transfer out to TJ? If yes, ow many AP/AV courses did they allow?

TJ has premium "better than AP" classes.

that is what AV means which the poster has asked

Thank you very much. Will check it out. My child is getting very nervous about AP classes and I am very happy that things haven’t changed from 8 years ago

How many AP courses can a 10th grader take in Madison High School in Vienna?

I’m not well and couldn’t attend the open house.
When my first child was there many years ago, kids couldn’t take any AP courses in 9th and only APUSH in 10th grade.
Have things changed?
My husband says my second one can take more than 1 AP course next year?

Thank you so much for your responses.
