In the DCC you can stay in your current school if you are 11th or 12th; you will still need to submit paperwork. Outside the DCC I do not know.

The easiest thing to do would be to stay at your current location until right after she starts senior year.

Are you in the DCC?

If your old school is underenrolled, you may be able to get a COSA exception.

MCPS will generally her to attend the HS your new address is assigned to. I believe the main exception is if she’s a senior. If she has an IEP, you can probably also make a case for her staying if you move sooner, but I don’t know what the odds are.

I think you'd be OK to move during her senior year, but not before.

We would like to move and are wondering about what our options are in terms of my DD’s school. She is in 9th grade and is very happy at her high school. If we stay in MoCo, can she stay at her high school even if we now zone to a different high school, or will she have to move? We will stay in our house as long as we have to so she can stay in her school, so trying to figure out if we have to wait until she graduates or if there is some number of years at a high school that lets the kid lock in there, even if we move somewhere else in MoCo or even the district.
