You obviously do not love cats and that's ok. That's why we are defending them! Humans do disgusting things too

Agree and I have a cat that keeps jumping on the counter!

I do have disinfectant wipes and wipe all surfaces before food preparation and the table before eating. My counters and table are cleaner than yours because they're disinfected multiple times a day. I'm a germophobe and don't want a little cat butthole to touch any surface that might have food. So disgusting!

Yeah, mine just jump up there to get to the window sill so they can watch birds outside. It’s not like they just sit around on the counters. This is so far down on my list of things to worry about. They bring us far more joy than any negligible risk of contamination is worth.

Believe me - as a cat owner I wish I could keep them off the counters. Cats don't train like dogs. They do what they want - we've tried everything, and they still prowl the counters (and the sink).

I find it disgusting and I do not allow my cat on the counter or on tables. It helps that he is very low energy! But I also don’t think it’s that big of a health risk either, and it don’t think it’s a big deal that other people do it.

The cat isn't on the cutting board where I'm preparing food so it's not an issue for me. If I need to use the counter bare for something like bread, I clean it first.

They're looking for a high place to hang - it's in a cat's instinct to perch high. Install even higher places, and the cat will choose the higher place over the counter.

Apparently this is common. Am I the only one who finds this disgusting?
