Whichever one is closest to your home. Because you need to be able, at the drop of a hat, deal with whatever comes up.

Wilson at Asbury is probably the best.

Wilson skilled care on the Asbury campus has a rehab center. An elderly relative did well there recovering from a fall. PT and OT were both good.

I am much younger than your dad, but also did a hip rehab at the Hebrew home. It was fine and the caregivers were kind. I sometimes had to ask for my medications, which were otherwise not always presented on time. There is daily PTO that was helpful. The food is horrifically bad if that matters and I never ate one meal there after the first couple (my family brought meals to me, and I kept some basic food in the room). I think if you can keep a close eye, it is a good place overall.

My friends father has been at Lorien for a few months. Overall they’re happy. Her dad has dementia as well, along with a TBI (due to his dementia, had a bad fall) and also had some orthopedic surgeries after the fall.

She’s had some complaints about certain nurses or about paperwork mistakes here or there but I’m not sure you’ll find a place that is perfect considering the low wages of the workers. Again/ happy over all.

We used Hebrew Home two times. One time was very bad and the other time was good. The service differs based on the floor and staff for that area.

This. Plus with dementia, he’s going to be difficult to place. You may find you have few options.

We got the list too many years ago when my elderly mom was going from hospital hip surgery to rehab. My best advice is to narrow down to 2 or 3 places and go see them in person. Laying eyes on the places helped make our decision, a place near GMU in Ffx.

He lives with us and has been doing ok until this fall, with lots of support at home. We had renovated a part of our house for him (one floor, walk-in shower). He has very limited short-term memory at this point. I hope that he can come home, but am not sure what will happen. We have the option for him to come home with a bed and a lift, or rehab. I am quickly learning about the rehab options in the next two days in order to make a decision. Thank you SO very much for sharing any suggestions for rehab facilities to look at. Really appreciate it.

What is his living situation otherwise? When my father went to rehab after surgery we quickly learned it was mostly a more positive turned for skilled nursing care. Do you feel he will definitely be able to return home?

My father who has advanced dementia is in the hospital after breaking his hip. He had hip surgery and it is now being recommended to go to rehab. What are some facilities that you recommend in Montgomery, Frederick, Howard, and/or Carroll counties? We are flexible in location due to our commuting patterns. Thank you so, so much for your sharing your advice and experience.
