I have always assumed travel agent and travel advisor are synonymous. I think travel advisor and travel specialist are just more up-to-date terms.

When I use one (which is only for big budget trips that I can't figure out myself -- for example I used one for safari in Tanzania, but not for London and Stonehenge), I look at the Conde Nast "Top Travel Specialists" list. Specifically for the area I'm traveling to. I wouldn't use a general travel advisor; if I'm going to Italy, I want one who specializes in Italy, If I'm going to Thailand, one who knows everything there is to know about Thailand, etc...

IMO, an agent establishes a fiduciary responsibility to you, to represent your best interest. However, and advisor, can state they will help you develop a "customized vacations" (same as can the agent, by the way) but then, if an error should occur, legally fall back on that they were simply advising you and not really working as your agent. I have been in the travel industry for 33 years, and I still feel that the term, travel agent fits me best, because, like a sport agent, talent agent, real-estate agent, I will work for the benefit of my client, and not shy away from terms that "loosen" my liability and responsibility to the client.

No difference. Exact same person, just their preference for what they use as their title. Advisor is more modern, IMO

We are lucky enough to have a healthy travel budget and I've read on this forum about Travel advisors. I do the planning of our trips but now that we are doing more high-end vacations and spending a significant amount for each trip I'd like to get advice on where to go, hotel recs and help with ideas for planning. I know people on this forum have mentioned that this is something a Travel Advisor can do but I'm wondering what the difference is between a travel advisor vs a high end travel agent? Also if you know of someone I can reach out to help with travel please share their info.
