This, but name their hometown or something specific. Reading that someone took the extra ten seconds to think specifically about me when they were writing their thank you note is really meaningful. Moreso than a message that would work for everyone "thank you for the generous gift. We're happy you could celebrate with us "

+1

Don't be extra, OP. Weddings are extra enough. Destination weddings, well........

Any quote that is "about friends/ family who show up for you even when it’s not easy or being grateful for those who make the effort" is likely going to be in the context of someone experiencing true difficulty or hardship. They just won't apply in your situation and using them out of context will make you look ignorant at best. I can think of a quote but it would be appropriate if you were grateful for friends/family who moved mountains to support you during illness or loss. Not really the same.

I'd use a genuine sentiment or the start of a sentence from you, rather than a quote. Or a group photo of all of you there.

Anyway, if I were on the receiving end, I would prefer a heartfelt sentiment of your own, rather than leaning on words you found from someone else.

I agree. You were extra. Don’t be *extra* extra. I’m assuming you treated them like kings and queens while there (or I hope you did) and make the trip worth it. No sentiment needed afterwards.

We had some friends and family who joined us ,with little notice, on a trip abroad to celebrate a wedding. It was definitely not convenient for some folks who had kids and we were so grateful they made the effort. I’m sending thank you notes and looking for a nice quote I can get printed on about friends/ family who show up for you even when it’s not easy or being grateful for those who make the effort… I’ve been googling but nothing seems appropriate. not sure if there’s a quote anyone knows of that will fit the bill but wanted to check.
