It's not easy for youth kids to listen and learn. Often, the best coaches have to yell to get kid's attention so they actually learn and develop as players.

Again, it's a fine line. Nothing wrong with yelling as long as the wording is about training and not putting the kid down.

I see this is in travel all the time. What happens is the kids do just enough to not get yelled at but nothing more.

Made me thankful for DS's coach But will say that some parents seem to be of the opinion that their child isn't really being coached if the aren't being yelled at and joysticked.

There's one coach who joked one his club instagram about having a designated time out spot at CCBC this weekend. Even if a joke not a great look

Was this the same coach who got a red card for behavior in an early game but somehow managed to get it "reversed"? Not really so funny.

Don't know. On Instagram, it was a coach whose academy is his name

We pull our DD from a club because of this. She was too young to put up screaming at every practice and game. Hardly ever positive, berating them after a loss. It was ridiculous and did real damage. I cannot believe I put up with it for 2 years. I am mad at myself.

Not sure if it's gotten worse. It's something that's just always been there. Soccer isn't unique in this issue.

I wouldn’t tolerate it now. That’s part of why my kid does rec and not travel.
If the coach screamed at my kid beyond just yelling so they can hear him, I’d be pissed and he would know it.

I have noticed a big uptick recently of coaches screaming and berating their young players. At what point are parents going to draw the line and refuse to put up with it? Or why do they continue to tolerate it? Very sad to watch.
