Honors yes you have a private room, but the building was a mental institution, and my kid would not enter that building and forgo honors because of it. Heard many stories of it being haunted. Honors do have first day of classes but still are shut out of classes. There are many 4.0 kids in the art department, no one really cares, it is more about your talents.

VCUArts is well-regarded and they just announced a huge investment for a new collaborative interdisciplinary art building. My child will definitely be considering it for their music and theater aspirations.

In addition to the reasonable in-state public, Richmond is definitely a decent city for artists (at least compared with the other college towns in the state).

However, my kid thinks that she should go to a more "prestigious" school because of her high stats. She feels like she worked really hard to get a high GPA in all honors and AP classes and get a high test score (upper 1400s) - but if she went to VCU, she would feel like she didn't even need to work as hard as she did. Its not the best attitude, but I think a lot of people in her situation might feel the same way. Having said this, my kid still acknowledges that VCUArts has a solid reputation.
