Lexus reliability not much more vs others with their newer models. With turbo charging, direct injection, etc....just too much complexity. It will take years to get reliability/durability back to legacy models. Signed....Toyota mechanic.


You could be right on this. Standard V-6/V-8 engines have better reliability but new turbos have issues. Honestly, German manufacturer's turbos' perform better.

Lexus drivability sucks though. Feels like driving a big truck and handling is poor.

I go to a foreign car service center and they basically told me they love BMWs bc they’re constantly in need of something. I had an X5 and was going to switch to an X7, but my X5 had a string of constant expensive issues. It only had about 42k miles. I finally gave up and vowed to never get another BMW.

My BMW was constantly at the service center. And the one in Mosaic is awful. So many terrible experiences. I recently got a Mercedes and it has been fine (knock on wood).

Most people lease these cars so it’s hard to get a used one 1-2 years old. I’ve had a few of the GLS/GL for almost 15 years, and the quality of my most recent one is not good. It’s a 2021. I can’t wait for my lease to be over. I’m going to look at the XL which I think looks good from the outside. The inside of the GLS looks amazing, but a lot of stuff breaks.


Performance of the GLS is great. So comfortable and great pickup. No complaints there.

Either way get it 1-2 years barely used. These are great vehicles but they take a massive depreciation hit upfront.
