I don't care about expensive luxury brands as they are all made in the same factories. I don't want worn-out old clothing on my kids. They outgrow it faster than it gets worn out anyway. If I cannot get it on sale or clearance, or cheaply we don't need it.

I think the key is not buying things and using them for a year or less, not necessarily buying thrift store/consignment clothes.

Stay away from cheap plastic clothes on Amazon. Returns are just sent to the landfill. Avoid ordering a bunch of stuff planning to try them on and return what you don't like - the whole pile ends up a burning pile of plastic. Buy high quality pieces.

This makes no sense to me. If you want to do something, buy way fewer clothes and keep them a lot longer.


I haven't bought new clothes for myself in years. But at some point my current clothes will wear out and when I get new clothes, I will look at used rather than buying new clothes from a store.

My post wasn't that unclear. Do you buy used clothes or new clothes from a store?

I buy a mix of both for me and my kids. My kids were raised on handmedowns and consignment sales and now they are both happy thrifters.
