How did the CPR component work?

You need the class, the homework, and 1 hour of fitness per day (which needs to be tracked with a fitness device so heartrate can be tracked). It's manageable, though obv not preferable, on vacation.

You can also ask for a specific class time, permanently or only to switch a couple of classes (such as if you have a conflict or there is a significant time change). They were very accommodating as they know kids have vacation, sports, camps, work, etec.

Unless things have changed, no one checks or cares about this. During the virtual time I had students openly logging in from all over, including other countries. I was happy they joined the class. Occasionally they still tell me they are going out of the country for a family emergency and will keep up with work. I can’t ever remember anyone bringing this up as an issue.

As a parent, I would look into a different PE virtual class somewhere else to transfer in the credit that didn’t meet live before I’d try to have my kid log in daily from a cruise. There are other options out there where they can be completed at their own pace. Google it and check with the counselor about transferring.

I think it can be done on a regular laptop. My DD took PE9 and PE10 on her personal laptop about 5 years ago; we just had to ensure we had certain things downloaded, which they will advise.

Thank you all! Hopefully the work can be done through a personal laptop, and not the school issued one, although Alaska is in the US, so taking it out of the country won't be an issue. DH and I have to take ours with us anyway, so she will have something to work on, and we both have VPN as well.

We'll have to take the unlimited WiFi option for at least one of us; I have no idea how good it will be, but hopefully good enough for an hour of class a day.

Yes, better to take it pass/fail. They do need to do specific exercise every day with a wearable fitness monitor.

And while taking it on vacation would be fine, international cruise seems like it might be a bridge too far with connectivity issues and needing to be online a specific time every day.

You will be assigned a time to zoom with the teacher live with cameras on. Class meets for an hour. You can choose a general timeframe like 8-10 or 10-12 or 1-3 and then they assign the class meeting time within the best of their ability.

You do have homework and then the fitness portion. I think they might say you can only miss two or three days before they will drop you.

You'll be assigned a particular time slot (I think they tend to be in the morning -- I had a rising 9th grader who did it last summer and I Believe had to be online 9am-10am). It was stressed to us that they had to attend class -- I think if you missed more than a few they dropped you from the class.

In addition to the one hour synchronous class, each day there was homework of some sort (this never seemed to take that long), and they had to exercise for an hour and upload a screenshot or some evidence from their fitness tracker app proving they had worked out for an hour.

I think it would be feasible to handle the class during a vacation, but only if you knew you would be able to get online at the appropriate time for class and would be able to turn in the daily work.

Could someone explain how this works? My understanding is that you meet (with cameras on) once a day for an hour, for four weeks. At curriculum night, they said that it's going to be something like June 24th - July 24th. Is there one particular time slot where you have to login? Is this something that you can choose? In addition to working out with a log of it via something like a Fitbit, for an hour a day, is there homework on top of it?

DD wants to take summer PE as a rising 9th grader, to free up an elective slot during the school year. I wanted to see if this is feasible, because we have a cruise right in the middle of it (July 4th week), so there are 4 days where she will have to login from a ship. With the shore excursions and time difference, there may be days where it is difficult for her to login at the right time. What are the ramifications if she misses one day of class, but otherwise turns in her work?
